Secret Garden

Irish-Norwegian duo Secret Garden will play a night of new instrumental music. Consisting of Irish violinist and singer Fionnuala Sherry and Norwegian composer, arranger and pianist Rolf Lovland, the duo has sold over 3 million albums since having won the 1995 Eurovision Song Contest, representing Norway with the composition “Nocturne.”

SZSO

Shenzhen Symphony Orchestra (SZSO) and its choir will present two Chinese chorus pieces.

Richard Clayderman

French pianist Richard Clayderman will present two nights of easy-listening tunes. Clayderman has released numerous albums including the compositions of Paul de Senneville and Olivier Toussaint, instrumental renditions of popular music, rearrangements of movie soundtracks, ethnic music and easy-listening arrangements of popular works of classical music.

Erhu concert

Shenzhen teacher Shu Xi’s students will present erhu pieces.

Gershwin pieces

Local pianists Shan Yi, Gao Bei, Dong Chong and Liu Qing will play George Gershwin’s classic jazz piano pieces to mark the 120th anniversary of the U.S. composer’s birthday. Gershwin’s compositions spanned both popular and classical genres, and his most popular melodies are widely known. Among his best-known works are the orchestral compositions “Rhapsody in Blue,” “An American in Paris” and “Porgy and Bess.”

Gershwin’s compositions have been adapted for use in many films and for television, and several have become jazz standards recorded and been covered in many variations. Many celebrated singers and musicians have performed his songs.
