The Chinese New Year celebration in Shenzhen starts with buying New Year flowers at the flower market. It has become an essential ritual for Shenzhen residents to visit the Spring Festival flower market before the Spring Festival every year.

The 2024 Spring Festival flower market will open February 3. Shenzhen will set up 11 flower markets around the city, with approximately over 300 flower purchasing points and more than 4700 flower stalls, to meet the needs of the citizens for flower appreciation, purchase and joyful celebration of the Chinese New Year.

Aiguo Road flower market in Luohu

For Shenzhen residents, the Aiguo Road flower market is a place filled with beautiful memories. Since 1998, it has been one of the venues for Shenzhen's annual flower market and one of the most festive flower streets in city. Themed "dragon soaring, flowers blooming in Luohu," this year's Aiguo Road flower market will feature five major areas, including flowers, dining, cultural and creative products, couplets and New Year goods. With an estimated 340 booths, including over 190 fresh flower stalls, the event will not only feature brands like Master Bao and craft beer but also augmented reality experiences and digitized blessings.

Flower market in Longgang

This winter, tourism in Harbin, northeastern China's Heilongjiang Province, has been in the spotlight, especially with its Russian-style architecture. In fact, the Russian-style architecture at Shenzhen MSU-BIT University is also majestic. The main venue of the 2024 Longgang flower market will be held at Shenzhen MSU-BIT University, providing a taste of the Harbin atmosphere without leaving Shenzhen. Covering a total area of about 30,000 square meters, Longgang’s flower market will host approximately 100 booths. Visitors can buy flowers, kumquats and other floral products, as well as traditional Chinese New Year items like red envelopes, couplets, various candies and snacks. Additionally, Russian specialties will also be available. In addition to numerous flower stalls, the main venue will host a variety of festive activities, including Sino-Russian cultural festivals, live performances, parades, folk music, dances, and the God of Wealth bestowing blessings.

Binhai Langqiao flower market in Bao'an

The Langqiao flower market in Bao'an will open to the public February 3 on the Binhai Langqiao (seashore lounge bridge), presenting a unique New Year celebration. Located in the Qianhai Bay Area and Bao'an Central District, the entire seashore lounge bridge spans 2 kilometers and stands as a new popular landmark in Shenzhen. Capitalizing on the geographical features of the bridge and Bao'an's pedestrian walkways, the flower market has been custom-designed to become Shenzhen's first "multi-dimensional experience" flower market. This event will allow citizens to enjoy a variety of experiences such as visiting the landmark bridge, leisurely strolling through the flower market, camping on lawns and experiencing diverse cultures in the sunken spaces.
