LOCATED in an office building in Tairan Science and Technology Park, Futian District, B. N. House is a place where baseball bats, shovels, wrenches, helmets and boxing gloves are provided to help people relieve stress, the Shenzhen Special Zone Daily reported yesterday.

Run by young entrepreneur Liu Beinan, the “venting house” has three smashing rooms and a boxing room, in which customers can smash things and hit sandbags to vent their anger and depression to their hearts’ content.

Liu said many people are stressed by their work and life in modern cities nowadays. Therefore, the house offers a new venting outlet to white-collar workers and those who suffer from pressure.

“We have been open for nearly three months, during which more than 240 customers have experienced our service. Many said it was fun, novel and refreshing,” said Liu, whose venting house proffers various kinds of objects for smashing, such as old TV sets, computer monitors, keyboards, beer bottles and plates.

“Our service is customer-oriented. For example, we prepare stockings because there are customers who actually want to tear them and get pleasure in tearing. Same with the computer monitor. I remember there was a customer who worked in an IT company and banged on the monitor for dozens of minutes before he finally left in satisfaction,” said Liu.

He added that the original intention of the venting house was not to advocate violence, but to offer people an entertaining way to release stress and feel joy in the process. “We will develop more interesting games in the future so that customers can experience more fun while reducing pressure.” (Zhang Yu)
