Splendid China • China Folk Culture Villages

But Splendid China•China Folk Culture Villages in Overseas Chinese Town saves you time by gathering everything in one place. Splendid China, spread over 30 hectares, is the largest miniature park in the world. Inspired by Madurodam, a miniature town in the Netherlands, Splendid China is a mini-landscape of China with 84 replicas of typical ancient buildings, natural landscapes and folk dwellings. China Folk Culture Villages, a sister park, features folk art, customs and dwellings. Various festivals, including the Water-splashing Festival of the Dai, Torch Festival of the Yi, and Lusheng Festival of the Miao are celebrated in a magnificent manner.

Window of the World
Another theme park situated in Overseas Chinese Town, Window of the World offers vivid replicas of the world’s wonders, historical landmarks and famous scenic sites. The replicas are built at ratios of 1:1, 1:5 or 1:15. The collection is divided into parts based on continents and nations, and there are a total of 118 scenic spots from throughout the world. There are also restaurants and bars on International Street where you can sample food and drinks from France, Germany, Italy, Austria, Russia, Japan and Thailand. Reproductions include the pyramids of Egypt, the Amon Temple of Karnak, Angkor Wat
of Cambodia, the Grand Canyon in the United States,L’Arc de Triomphe in Paris, St. Peter’s Cathedral in Vatican City, the Taj Mahal of India, the Sydney Opera House of Australia and the Leaning Tower of Pisa of Italy. Especially eye-catching is the 108-meter-tall replica of the Eiffel Tower. At its top, you can see Shenzhen and part of Hong Kong. There are also “active” Hawaiian volcanoes with glowing rocks and surging molten lava.

Happy Valley
This is China’s homegrown version of Disneyland. With an area of 170,000 square meters, Happy Valley is a product of a modern high technology and leisure concept, a perfect combination of cultural themes and amusement facilities. There are nine themed sections in Happy Valley. They are Spanish Plaza, Cartoon City, Adventure Hill, Happy Time, Gold Mine Town, Shangri-la Forest, Hurricane Bay, Sunshine Coast and Maya Water Park. There are over 100 colorful entertaining items here for young and old. For example, there is the first discoverer in China which swings at a great height. There is UFO, a riding item for the family which is up to the minute in the world and number one in Asia. There is “shooting the rapids,” which has the largest fall in the world. There is Xueshan Feilong, the first suspended roller coaster in China. There is Space Shuttle, the first screaming tower in China and the highest one in Asia. There is the first four-dimension Cinema in Asia, which combines seeing, hearing and feeling together. There is Maya Water Park, which is the only park in Asia that was awarded an international prize by World Water Park Association.

Shenzhen Safari Park
Located near Xili Lake, Shenzhen Safari Park covers 1.2 square kilometers. It integrates a zoo and a botanical garden. The park has over 150 species, including 3,000 animals and birds. The park has tried to give the animals habitats similar to theirs in the wild, rather than using cages. The animals are divided into herbivores and carnivores. In the herbivore one, there are tame animals such as giraffes, elephants and various species of birds. In the animals of prey area are ferocious tigers and lions and the charmingly naive bears. In a third zone devoted to performances, visitors can continue their day of entertainment at Crocodile Pool, Monkey Hill, Snake House, Panda Hall, Golden-monkey’s Enclosure, a viewing tower and restaurants. There is also a Chinese and Russian circus. Performances are held on the square every day. Talent shows for different animals are scheduled at different venues each day.
