Lakes and hills, as well as fields make Futian become a treasure land.

Futian District lies in the central part of Shenzhen’s SEZ between Hongling Road in the east, Overseas Chinese Town to the west, Longhua to the north, and Shenzhen River to the south. It faces the New Territories and Yuen Long of Hong Kong. The Shenzhen Municipal Government and Municipal Committee of the CPC are situated in Futian District - the administrative, cultural, information, international exhibition, commercial and financial center of Shenzhen. The district covers a total area of 78.04 sq km and is the permanent home to 1.1901 million people.

In 2008, the GDP of Futian District amounted to 149.824 billion yuan, up 10.2%. Total retail of consuming goods  of the District amounted to 69.471 billion yuan, up 16.6%. Total industrial output value was 121.206 billion yuan, of which the output value of hi-tech products contributed 87.157 billion yuan, accounting for 71.91%. Total imports and exports amounted to $73.293 billion, up 3.64%, among which exports reached $35.087 billion.

Currently, investors from more than 80 countries and regions have stakes in Futian District, with total foreign direct investment (FDI) of $10.552 billion. Some 63 Fortune 500 companies have set up 106 enterprises and branches here.
