1. The location Shenzhen is located on the banks of South Sea (east longitude 113°46 ' to 114°37' and north latitude 22°27 ' to 22°52'), lying in the south of Guangdong Province and on the east estuary of the Pearl River. It borders on Daya Bay and Dapeng Bay in the east, and the estuary of Pearl River and Lingding Ocean in the west, Hong Kong SAZ through Shenzhen River in the south, and Dongguan City and Huizhou City in the north. Shenzhen Municipality was established in 1979 and the Special Economic Zone (SEZ) was set up in 1980. The city has a total area of 1,952.84 km2 and a coastline of 230 km. Futian is in the central part of Shenzhen SEZ. It neighbors Hongling Road to the east, Overseas Chinese Town to the west, Longhua to the north, and Shenzhen River to the south facing New Territories and Yuen Long of Hong Kong. The Municipal Government and the Municipal CPC Committee of Shenzhen City are situated in Futian District, which is the administrative, cultural, information, international exhibitions, business and financial center of Shenzhen. The entire district covers an area of 7,880 hectares, and possesses a population of 1.1 million.
2. The climate With mild climate and abundant sunshine, Shenzhen is in marine climate area of subtropical zone. The summer lasts as long as 6 months and it is warm in the spring, autumn and winter. Annual mean temperature: 24℃; Maximum temperature: 36.6℃; Minimum temperature: 1.4℃; Annual average sunshine hours: 2,120 hours; Mean annual precipitation: 1,948 mm. |
