Cross-border e-commerce event held
Shenzhen Daily 2021-08-26 11:40

A cross-border e-commerce matchmaking meeting was held online and on site at the Shenzhen International Chamber of Commerce Tower, Futian District yesterday. Some 800 business representatives from the cross-border e-commerce industry attended the event.

The convention was jointly hosted by the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade Commercial Sub-council (CCPIT-CSC) and China Council for the Promotion of International Trade Shenzhen Municipal Committee (CCPIT Shenzhen).

The COVID-19 pandemic has stimulated an increasing number of companies and brands to shift to online sales, while enhanced quarantine procedures for goods and disrupted international shipping challenged cross-border e-commerce businesses.

In line with the city government’s call for attention to the industry’s needs, the meeting invited eight leading international e-commerce platforms, such as eBay and Shopee, and nine cross-border e-commerce service providers, such as DNY123 and Tec-Do, to provide Chinese merchants with solutions to cross-border business problems.

Europe, North America and the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) are three major destinations of Shenzhen’s exported products, according to CCPIT Shenzhen. The eight selected e-commerce platforms target the mature markets, as well as Blue Sea of Latin America for e-commerce firms to explore.

Logistics, storage, advertisement and payment are critical issues for cross-border e-commerce companies. The meeting provided a platform for the firms to connect with service providers that are experienced at addressing “the pain point” for businesses.

All service providers attending the meeting offered free and discounted service packages. For example, the founder of DNY123 introduced their free services that match Chinese businesspeople who run stores in Southeast Asia with local resources covering the whole industry chain. Kuajing Haoyun, an internet intelligent logistics service platform, dispatched cash coupons to new customers.

“CCPIT Shenzhen and CCPIT-CSC have organized a series of activities to support companies in gaining comprehensive information, reducing costs in terms of transportation, advertising, storage, logistics and payment, as well as avoiding risks of violation of regulations in foreign countries and regions,” said an official with CCPIT Shenzhen.

The 2021 China (Shenzhen) International E-Commerce Selection and Sourcing Fair is scheduled to be convened at the Shenzhen World Exhibition & Convention Center in December, to further facilitate cross-border e-commerce.
