Before the founding of Shenzhen Special Economic Zone, Futian District was under the administration of Bao'an County. At that time, there were 15 villages with nearly 60 sub-villages in the area. Most of those villages were built during the Song, Yuan and Ming dynasties by people who mainly came from Central China, Jiangxi and Fujian provinces. For hundreds of years, they farmed in the area and created a splendid culture.
