Green, beautiful, and pleasant. Located south of the Tropic of Cancer, Futian enjoys a subtropical marine monsoon climate characterized by mild weather and abundant sunshine, with an average annual temperature of 22.2°C. In 2024, the air quality excellent rate reached 98.4%, with an average annual PM2.5 concentration of 16.9 micrograms per cubic meter and an ozone concentration of 132 micrograms per cubic meter. To the north, the Tanglang-Meilin-Yinhu mountain range provides a scenic backdrop, while to the south lie the Shenzhen River, Shenzhen Bay, and the Futian Mangrove National Nature Reserve, home to the world’s first “International Mangrove Center.” The district boasts five rivers with 100% of their water bodies meeting good quality standards. It has developed 20.5 kilometers of scenic greenway trails, including the Xinzhou Mangrove Greenway, which won the 2023 China Habitat Environment Exemplary Award. With a greenery coverage rate of 42.54%, Futian features 138 parks, and nearly the entire district is within a 500-meter radius of park green spaces. The district has been honored as a “National Soil and Water Conservation Demonstration County,” ranked among the top ten in Guangdong Province’s inaugural “Green and Beautiful Guangdong Competition,” and became the first central district in a mega city nationwide to be designated a “National Ecological Civilization Construction Demonstration Zone.”

Convenient and smooth transportation. Futian’s transport network extends across the city, connects seamlessly to Hong Kong, and links to the rest of China. The Huanggang and Futian ports, together with the No. 1 channel of the Futian Free Trade Zone, provide direct access to Hong Kong. The underground Futian high-speed railway station connects to Hong Kong’s West Kowloon Station in just 14 minutes and to Guangzhou South Station in 38 minutes, forming the “Guangzhou-Shenzhen-Hong Kong half-hour commuting circle.” Metro Line 11 links to Bao’an Airport’s departure hall within 30 minutes. Currently, Futian is served by 10 metro lines covering 110 kilometers, with plans to increase to 137.98 kilometers upon completion of under-construction lines, resulting in a rail transit density comparable to that of Tokyo and Central Hong Kong.

Revitalized commercial activity. As Shenzhen’s primary consumption hub, Futian hosts key commercial zones and specialized business districts such as Huaqiangbei, Chegongmiao-Jinsha, Meilin, and SCPG-Donghai. It is home to upscale shopping centers including One Avenue, Galaxy COCO Park, PA Mall, UpperHills, and KK ONE. A preliminary “1+5” business district system has taken shape. The Futian CBD was selected as a national model smart business district by the Ministry of Commerce; Galaxy COCO Park, One Avenue and The Mixc Shenzhen have been named national model smart stores. Futian CBD and UpperHills were recognized as Shenzhen municipal-level exemplary characteristic business districts and night economy demonstration streets. Popular night economy hubs like Shopping Park and Shuiwei 1368 Cultural Block offer diverse experiences and were designated the 2024 Preferred Night Economy District. In 2024, total retail sales of consumer goods in Futian reached nearly 234.4 billion yuan, maintaining the highest rank in the city.

Abundant tourism resources. Iconic landmarks such as Lianhua Hill Park and the Deng Xiaoping Portrait attract numerous domestic and international visitors annually. The district has developed the “Futian Ten Scenic Spots,” which include Electronics Street, Deng Xiaoping Portrait, and Civic Center. Futian has created 31 distinctive cultural and tourism routes and launched the nation’s only regularly operated helicopter low-altitude sightseeing project. In 2024, the district welcomed over 25 million visitors and earned the “2024 Dynamic District” title. It is also home to 339 hotels and inns, including 9 star-rated hotels and 5 five-star establishments.
