Excellence in education. Futian hosts a total of 294 schools, including 130 primary and secondary schools and 164 kindergartens. All four of the city’s traditional “famous schools” are located in Futian. The district collaborates with prestigious institutions such as Peking University Affiliated High School, The Chinese University of Hong Kong (Shenzhen), and Xi’an Jiaotong-Liverpool University to form a high-quality education group promoting coordinated development. Futian is among the first districts nationwide—and the only one in Guangdong Province—to pass the national assessment for high-quality and balanced compulsory education development. It has been designated a provincial pilot zone for deepening basic education curriculum reform, a demonstration area for science education in primary and secondary schools, and a model zone for smart education applications. Five higher education projects, including the Tsinghua University Shenzhen Research Institute of Economics and Management, Shenzhen Institute of Advanced Finance, and Shenzhen Polytechnic Innovation and Creative Design College, have been steadily advancing, helping establish a uniquely Futian-centered higher education ecosystem.
Continuous improvement of healthy Futian. The district is home to over 1,200 medical and health institutions, including nine top-tier (Class 3A) hospitals with around 13,000 beds. It has formed three medical and health groups, creating a “3+10” grid-based service framework. With 104 community health centers, the family doctor contract coverage rate exceeds 94% among key population groups, and public health centers in all subdistricts have achieved full coverage. Resident health literacy has ranked first in the city for ten consecutive years. Futian has earned recognition as a Healthy District in Guangdong Province and as a national model zone for grassroots traditional Chinese medicine work.
