Established in January 1990, Futian District is one of Shenzhen’s central urban districts and the seat of the municipal Party and government organs, serving as the city’s administrative, cultural, financial, commercial and international exchange center. The district administers 10 subdistricts:  Yuanling, Nanyuan, Futian, Shatou, Meilin, Huafu, Xiangmihu, Lianhua, Huaqiangbei and Fubao with a permanent population of about 1.5363 million in 92 communities.
