High concentration of headquarters

Futian hosts three homegrown Fortune Global 500 companies — accounting for 30% of the city's total — and 126 city-level headquarters enterprises, roughly one-third of Shenzhen’s total. The district’s role as a core engine of the headquarters economy continues to strengthen: in 2024 Futian’s headquarters firms, though fewer than 0.1% of enterprises by number, contributed nearly 60% of the district’s tax revenue. The newly certified headquarters are rich in emerging industries: about 60% of them are innovative or chain-leader enterprises in advanced manufacturing, internet and related fields. The district contains 159 buildings each generating over 100 million yuan in tax revenue — the highest count among China’s business districts—and more than three buildings at the 10-billion yuan level. Futian was named a benchmark district in the 2024 China Building Economy Development Index and a high-quality development district for China’s building economy in 2025, and was selected as a model benchmark district in the 2025 China Headquarters Economy Development Index.

Prominent financial hub advantages

Core financial infrastructure and regulatory bodies, such as the Shenzhen Stock Exchange, Shenzhen Financial Regulatory Bureau, and Shenzhen Securities Regulatory Bureau, plus the SZSE Technology Achievement and Intellectual Property Exchange Center, are all located in Futian. Leading national financial institutions including Ping An Group and China Merchants Bank have major presences here. The district hosts 303 licensed financial institutions, nearly 60% of the city’s total. Xiangmihu International Venture Capital & Startup Street is the Greater Bay Area’s first “national + local + foreign” VC/startup cluster, home to six of China’s top 50 VC firms and recognized as a “China Active Venture Capital District/County.” Futian’s wealth management scale reaches 18 trillion yuan, about 60% of the city’s total, making it the core wealth-management center of Shenzhen.

As part of reform innovations, Futian’s “integrated financial dispute resolution” pilot project was selected in 2025 as one of Guangdong Province’s first business-environment optimization “Reveal-the-List and Take the Lead” innovation projects, using legal-institutional innovation to underpin financial development. Futian has introduced fintech infrastructure projects such as Baihang Credit, issued the country’s first action plan for a digital finance pilot zone, formed China’s first fintech “going global” alliance and an “AI + Finance” industry ecosystem alliance, and launched the nation’s first AIC parent fund. Fintech companies in Futian account for 70% of the city’s total, helping position Shenzhen as the world’s second-ranked fintech hub. The value added by the financial industry in Futian has ranked first in the city for 21 consecutive years.

Urban science-and-technology innovation zone accelerates construction

Futian is home to more than 1,600 national high-tech enterprises. Value added by high-tech industries reached 86.249 billion yuan, accounting for 13.4% of GDP. Value added by strategic emerging industries was 127.053 billion yuan, or 19.8% of GDP. The district houses three new-quality industrial clusters at the 100-billion yuan level — intelligent terminals, new energy, and software & information services — and five 10-billion yuan clusters including, biomedicine, semiconductors and integrated circuits, and artificial intelligence. The artificial-intelligence computing platform has a dispatchable capacity of 27,000P, making it Shenzhen’s largest compute resource and among the largest nationally.

The district hosts the national intellectual-property public service platform, China (Southern) Intellectual Property Operation Center, 18 nationally recognized IP service (incubation) institutions, and 125 patent agencies, and has been approved as the city’s sole national demonstration zone for high-quality agglomeration development of the IP service industry.

Fashion industry leads the trends

Futian is Shenzhen’s fashion hub with diverse formats. Its high-end women’s wear and spatial design sectors are national leaders. Four of China’s top 10 high-end women’s wear brands are based in Futian, and the district ranks first in the city for the number of fashion brands, with the industry accounting for roughly one quarter of the city’s total scale. The fashion cluster has grown rapidly: for eight consecutive years Futian has rolled out special support measures for the sector, is developing a Bay Area Fashion Headquarters Center to high standards, and has created the nation’s first 10-billion-yuan level headquarters building for high-end women’s wear. The district also attracted the world’s first Madame Figaro Ladies Café.

International cooperation has helped promote “Shenzhen brands” overseas. Futian fashion brands have for two consecutive years participated as a delegation on the official schedule of Paris Fashion Week and hosted “Paris Fashion Week · Shenzhen Futian Fashion Day.” The district’s fashion cultural ecosystem is strong: the new Futian campus of Istituto Marangoni was officially opened, and signature events such as Shenzhen Design Week, the Shenzhen-Milan Twin-City Fashion Week, the Futian International Fashion Festival, Futian Fashion Creative Design Week, and the Sky Show have been successfully staged. Shenzhen Festival Avenue, China’s first fashion street centered on festival culture, has been featured three times on CCTV’s Xinwen Lianbo, named a Top-10 Greater Bay Area tourism attraction for three consecutive years, and honored as a demonstration case of China tourism entrepreneurship and innovation (government-enterprise cooperation) and as a popular new cultural-tourism consumption scene in Guangdong.

In 2025 the fashion industry’s value added reached 97.243 billion yuan.

Well-developed professional services

Within Futian District, asset appraisal firms, accounting firms, law firms and human-resources service agencies account for approximately 58.66%, 36.18%, 36.63% and 21.35% of the city’s totals, respectively, ranking first in Shenzhen for each category. Futian leads the nation in exhibition and display design capability: it has the most UFI members in the city (14) and hosts six of the world’s top 10 exhibition companies. In 2025 the district held 117 exhibitions with a total exhibition area of 3,016,000 square meters.
