Established in July 1999, Futian Library opened to the public in December 2001 and was relocated near Lianhua Hill in April 2008. It has 400,000 copies of books, more than 70,000 audio and video files, and more than 2,000 types of newspaper magazines. There are reading rooms for books, magazines, multimedia files, consultations, special files, local files, children's books and Braille. There are more than 1,200 seats in the library, which can serve 3,000 to 4,000 readers a day.
The library also offers a remote digital library for readers, with about 1,210,000 digital books and about 380,000 digital journals. There are 11 branch libraries across the district.
