Model’s big plans in Shenzhen

Mary Summers, who comes from Russia, started her modelling career at the end of last year. Before walking on the runway in Shenzhen, she had an internship as a magazine writer in Beijing.

“Shenzhen’s fashion industry is developing. I have paid attention to the Shenzhen Fashion Week (which was held in March this year). I think the fashion week is getting bigger, and the quality of the fashion week is reaching an international level.”

Summers loves her career as a model. She thinks fashion changes all the time. She has seen how Shenzhen fashion designers work hard to start new fashion trends, and she said many fashion companies were set up in the city within a short time.

“The reason why I chose to be a model is because it can give me more time to chase my other goals, and it’s easier to save money this way,” she said.

Summers is planning on launching a food blog at the end of May. “I love to travel around the country, and taste different kinds of food,” Summers said. She said she would like to post different kinds of cooking methods and her travel pictures. “If my blog is successful, I want to open a restaurant in Shenzhen, an Asian mixture food restaurant. If I can open my own restaurant, then I will quit modeling,” Summers said.

Summers also wants to be a film director. “I would like to go to Hong Kong to study to become a film director. I think as a film director, Shenzhen is a place where it is easier to develop a career, but Hong Kong has more chances to develop,” she said.

A girl with high expectations, Summers knows it is not easy to achieve all the goals she has set for herself. “It’s your life, you don’t do something you don’t like,” Summers said her mother once told her.
