Several star musicians will grace Shenzhen Concert Hall this week. Russian pianist Alexander Malofeev who won first prize at the Tchaikovsky Competition for Young Musicians at age 13 will give a recital of Handel, Bach, Purcell and Rachmaninoff pieces October 17.
On Friday, Chinese singer Chen Xiangshui will sing an evening of Hunan folk songs. And Shenzhen Symphony Orchestra (SZSO) will collaborate with young pianists Yin Zhi, Li Yuemeng and Liu Liu to play pieces by De Falla and Mozart.
Then on October 21, cellist Olsi Leka and pianist Peter Caelen will play pieces by Schumann, Stravinsky, Tchaikovsky, Dvořák and Franck. On the same night, Chinese guzheng master Wang Zhongshan will join hands with percussionist Zheng Yu, pianist Ji Lu, and bamboo flutist Huang Jiaqing to play an evening of folk music.
And on Sunday, The Swingles, a renowned a cappella vocal group that originated in 1962, will show their unique and innovative sound by blending classical music with jazz and pop elements.
