Futian is planning to launch various activities during the upcoming Spring Festival, which falls on Feb. 10 this year, aiming to add a festive atmosphere to the city.

These activities include a light show, a Longbaofu lion dancing parade and a dumpling carnival. This Spring Festival, please come to Futian and enjoy the beautiful scenery, delicious food and amazing shopping options.

Activity 1

Longbaofu lion dancing parade

On the fifth day of the Spring Festival (Feb. 14), a Longbaofu lion dancing parade will be held on Shenzhen Jieri Avenue (Shenzhen Festival Avenue).

With 19 parade formations, most of which feature traditional Chinese cultural characteristics, the parade is expected to give residents a chance to join the Chinese Lunar New Year celebration.

Activity 2

New Year light show

From New Year’s Eve (Feb. 9) to the eighth day of the Lunar New Year (Feb. 17), light shows will be held in the district’s CBD. With thousands of lights and dazzling colors, the light shows are expected to fully demonstrate the city’s unique charm.

Activity 3

Celebrating New Year with cultural and sports celebrities

From New Year’s Eve (Feb. 9) to the Lantern Festival (Feb. 24), Futian will also start video linkups with cultural and sports celebrities through 100 outdoor LED screens in the district to send sincere New Year blessings to citizens and tourists.

Activity 4

Dumpling carnival

In a way to show care for newcomers to Shenzhen, Futian has successfully held the New Year dumpling banquet for 19 consecutive years. This year’s dumpling carnival will be held on the fifth day of the Lunar New Year (Feb. 14) at the Central Street of the One Avenue. Residents and tourists are invited to make dumplings, sample the dumplings, participate in interactive games, and experience Chinese New Year customs.

Activity 5

Shenzhen-Hong Kong cross-border tour

During the Spring Festival, Futian will collaborate with local travel agencies to launch high-quality2-3-day tours to Hong Kong, combining cultural and tourism activities in both places for tourists. Futian will also collaborate with Hong Kong social organizations to organize Hanfu (traditional Chinese attire) enthusiasts in Hong Kong to visit Futian during the Lantern Festival, donning Hanfu and taking sightseeing buses nicknamed “red fatty” around Futian.

At the same time, 150 lucky people from Hong Kong will be publicly recruited to enjoy some good old-fashioned poon choi or “basin feast” – a traditional Hakka meal consisting of various ingredients layered in one big bowl, usually eaten on holidays and family gatherings. The mass banquets will be held in Futian, Xiasha, and Shuiwei villages to allow everyone to experience the authentic Futian village culture.

Activity 6

New Year park carnival

Residents and tourists are invited to take a parade route, which will link five parks in Futian --- Xiangmi Park, Huanggang Park, Shenzhen Children's Park, Caitian Park, and Meilin Park. Participants visiting the parks can collect the character "福" (meaning "blessing") to gather good luck and welcome the new year. During the event, a special parade bus route will be set up to freely shuttle visitors between the parks.

Activity 7

Consumption promotion activities

From now until Feb. 24, Futian has teamed up with merchants in the district to launch consumption promotion activities and roll out all kinds of discounts and activities. Futian will also launch a customized Spring Festival travel route that connects the five parks, combining shopping, dining, entertainment, accommodation, and transportation to offer citizens and tourists a good consumption environment.

At the same time, Futian merchants will hand out "lucky money," including discounts, value-added vouchers, benefit coupons, and gift vouchers. A new bus route will be launched direct to Hong Kong for the convenience of Hong Kong customers traveling to Futian CBD.
