Shenzhen launches 1st bike-friendly shuttle route
Shenzhen Daily 2025-09-08 11:18

Shenzhen’s first-ever customized cycling shuttle service is now officially on the road. Launched by Shenzhen Bus Group on Sept. 6, the service aims to make long-distance cycling and hiking more convenient by combining public transit with outdoor activity. Services are currently available by group-charter booking only.

Designed for riders, with bikes in mind

The new shuttles are built for convenience and comfort. Each bus features extra floor space for riders to change clothes, adjust gear, or simply stretch out. Some users even say they can nap on the return trip — instead of battling post-ride traffic.

The buses are also equipped with vertical bike racks that can hold up to 10 bicycles, with soft rubber contact points to protect bike frames. Staff assist with loading and unloading, and the interiors feature non-slip flooring for added safety in wet conditions.

A reporter with a local media outlet riding on such a shuttle described the onboard experience as spacious, clean, and rider-friendly.

Where Can You Go?

Currently, Shenzhen offers four cycling routes:

Route 1: Qianhaiwan Metro Station ↔ Dameisha Beach

Route 2: Liantang Checkpoint ↔ National Geopark

Route 3: Liantang Checkpoint ↔ Shifeng Industrial Zone (Guangming District)

Route 4: Guangming Fun Farm ↔ Zhenqian Mansion Bus Terminus

Each line operates on weekends and public holidays only, and round-trip service is available throughout the day.

Shenzhen Bus Group has also launched four hiking shuttle routes:

Route1: Yantian Road Metro Station ↔ Tanxian Temple (Longgang District)

Route 2: Likang Bus Terminal Circular Line (via Baimang Village and Xili Metro Station)

Route 3: Tangwei Metro Station ↔ Fenghuang Mountain Foot

Route 4: Airport East Metro Station ↔ Fenghuang Mountain Foot

These hiking shuttles make it easier for walkers to access popular but less transit-connected trails across the city, supporting a more active and sustainable lifestyle.

Easy to book, easy to ride

Shenzhen Bus Group offers both cycling and hiking routes under a “fixed route + group reservation” model. However services are currently available by group-charter booking only. This allows passengers to plan active outings with friends, clubs, or family — without worrying about long city transits.
