Inspired by the longstanding tradition of Vienna’s New Year’s Concert, “Sound of the New Year” — an orchestra of young European musicians—will bring its festive repertoire to Shenzhen on the evening of Jan. 2.

Vicente Alberola.
Conducted by Vicente Alberola, principal clarinetist of the Mahler Chamber Orchestra and an experienced conductor in recent years, the concert will also feature soprano Lucía Gandía Vergara, concertmaster David Ruiz Del Canto, and clarinetist Navarro Artigado Salvador.

Soprano Lucía Gandía Vergara.
The program will include beloved classical selections such as the overtures to Rossini’s “The Barber of Seville” and Offenbach’s “Orpheus in the Underworld,” Bizet’s popular “Carmen Suite,” romantic works by Camille Saint-Saëns, Brahms’ lively “Hungarian Dances,” Manuel de Falla’s “Ritual Fire Dance,” Amilcare Ponchielli’s “Dance of the Hours,” and works by Johann Strauss I and II — staples of any New Year’s concert.

The performance will run approximately 120 minutes, including a 15-minute intermission. Until Dec. 31, tickets priced at 180 yuan and above per seat are available at a 50% discount.
