In partnership with the Hong Kong Leisure and Cultural Services Department (LCSD), the Shenzhen Concert Hall is presenting a series of public benefit performances to mark the 270th anniversary of Mozart’s birth.

Chamber music

On Sunday, July 12, a fun and elegant chamber music concert, “Mozart and Friends,” will delight audiences. Musicians from the Hong Kong Philharmonic Orchestra — pianist Linda Yim, violist Andrew Ling, and clarinetist Lau Wai — will perform alongside accomplished Hong Kong pianist Stephen Wong. With seamless rapport, they promise to transport audiences back to the relaxed and convivial musical salons of Mozart’s era.

The concert opens with a piano four-hands piece showcasing the intimate synergy between the two pianists, followed by a lively dialogue between violin and piano. Next comes the exquisite “Clarinet Concerto,” and the playful “Trio in E-flat for Piano, Clarinet and Viola,” also known as the “Kegelstatt Trio.”

Vocal concert

On July 26, the singers of SingFest, under the baton of music director Dominic Lam, will present another Mozart-themed concert. The moving melodies will trace the multifaceted landscape of Mozart’s compositions, from piano four-hand works to deeply expressive art songs and beloved opera arias.

Founded in 2012 by professor Helmuth Rilling and music director Patrick Chiu, SingFest has launched a series of choral-related education programs for professional musicians, school teachers, university and secondary students, as well as music enthusiasts, all under the guidance of world-class maestros. Combining physical movement, theatrical elements, and contemporary insights, SingFest presents performances that breathe new life into classical choral music.

For this concert, the ensemble will present solos, small ensembles, and full choir performances of classic excerpts, including the “Sonata in D Major,” “An Chloe,” as well as beloved arias from “The Magic Flute,” “The Marriage of Figaro,” “Don Giovanni,” and “Idomeneo.”

‘Afternoon Music Time’

Shenzhen Concert Hall’s Chanson de Montagne Multiethnic Children’s Choir.

On July 18, the Shenzhen Concert Hall’s Chanson de Montagne Multiethnic Children’s Choir, under the guidance of artistic director Weng Yirui, will perform a concert alongside young European-based tenor Wang Xianmu. Together, they will present a program featuring “Happy Lahu,” “Nursery Rhymes in My Heart,” “Song of the Lotus,” “Over the Rainbow,” “Liebestraum,” and “Dawn Parts the Shadow From the Light.”

Admission is free, but tickets are required. Reserve via Shenzhen Concert Hall’s WeChat (ID: szyinyuet).
