With the Mid-Autumn Festival and National Day holidays just around the corner, Futian District is rolling out a packed program of cultural, culinary and lifestyle events.

From moon-viewing fairs and live music to international wine festivals, craft beer tastings and intangible cultural heritage experiences, Futian is inviting residents and visitors to make the most of the upcoming 3+7-day holiday period.

1. Crush Night – Bagualing

The festivities will begin at 7 p.m. on Sept. 24 at Bagua 1 Road Food Street.

The opening night will feature a traditional lion-dance eye-dotting ceremony, appearances by sports stars, illuminated art installations and the unveiling of a street quarter brimming with street-level vitality.

Futian is also partnering with the social media platform Douyin to launch a “ticket-stub gift package.” Visitors can search for “园岭” on Douyin to access a guide to dining, shopping and entertainment in Yuanling Subdistrict.

On Sept. 26, Hong Kong singer Aaron Kwok will bring his ICONIC World Tour to the Shenzhen Sports Center Gymnasium in Futian District. Concertgoers who present their tickets at Yuanling businesses before or after the show can enjoy exclusive discounts, special dishes and group-buy coupons from local businesses.

In addition, a Mid-Autumn Reunion Market will be held Sept. 24 and 25, bringing together traditional brands, popular new restaurants, handmade cultural products and intangible cultural heritage experiences. Visitors can also enjoy lantern-riddle games and instant-photo activities.

2. International Food Carnival

Food lovers can sample dishes prepared by chefs from 12 five-star hotels, including Mandarin Oriental, Shenzhen, at UpperHills.

With prices ranging from just 30 yuan to 80 yuan, visitors will be able to enjoy hotel-quality specialties in a more casual setting. Star-rated chefs will be on site throughout the event.

3. UpperHills International Wine Festival

The UpperHills International Wine Festival will offer visitors the chance to sample wines from major producing regions around the world in one location.

More than 300 wines will be available for tasting without an entry threshold, alongside offerings from five popular cocktail bars. Wines from Bordeaux, Burgundy and the Moselle region will be featured, with selections including champagne, dry white wine, botrytized wine, natural wine and orange wine.

Ouyang Zhian, China’s first world champion bartender, will also make a special pop-up appearance.

4. Craft Cocktail Music and Culture Festival

From Sept. 24 to 27, the Craft Cocktail Music and Culture Festival will take over the Gezi Plaza at AVIC City DREAMS-ON Mall.

More than 20 food and beverage stalls will offer over 100 specialty drinks, creating a relaxed atmosphere for visitors looking to enjoy an evening.

The festival will also present a cross-cultural musical experience, with Western contemporary instruments performing alongside traditional Chinese instruments.

5. Greater Bay Area Craft Beer Festival

Craft beer enthusiasts are invited to gather at Link Central Walk, where more than 90 specialty beers will be available. Visitors can sample a wide range of brews featuring malt-forward and fruity flavors.

6. Nanyuan Subdistrict Asia-Pacific Intangible Cultural Heritage Week

The Nanyuan Subdistrict market will celebrate Asia-Pacific intangible cultural heritage from Sept. 24 to Oct. 4.

The event will feature 10 hands-on heritage experience booths and 15 stalls selling traditional cultural products. Activities will include pottery, fish-lantern making, rubbings, bamboo weaving, tie-dyeing and folding-fan making.

Visitors can also watch performances such as Flying Apsaras Palace Lantern Dance, traditional fire performances and gunpowder-activated firework puppet shows.

7. C·JOYOUS Deep Blue Pre-loved Market

Futian’s first major secondhand market, the Deep Blue Pre-loved Market, will be held at C·JOYOUS shopping mall. Around 30 stalls will offer vintage clothing, used books, household items, pre-owned ceramics, garments, handmade illustrations and other goods. The market aims to promote reuse.

A special “used-book pawn” program will also be available. Visitors are encouraged to donate a book in exchange for a limited-edition market voucher that can be used for corresponding benefits. All collected books will be donated by the shopping mall to community libraries and community service centers.

8. First Bijia Mountain Art and Culture Festival

Bijia Mountain Sports Park, Shenzhen Central Park and UpperHills mall will join forces for a holiday program, with highlights including the UpperHills Theater Festival, the Bijia Mountain Art and Culture Festival, the Spartan DEKA competition and a garden dessert festival.

With food, music, art, shopping and traditional culture all on the agenda, Futian is turning the upcoming holidays into a citywide celebration for residents and visitors of all ages.
