Futian Government Online 2017-06-27 18:38

Malaysian singer-songwriter Gary Chaw will perform a night of pop songs.

Chaw’s early influences came from his admiration of Stevie Wonder and R. Kelly. He is renowned for his stage presence and wide vocal range and has achieved success in China and Singapore. In 2008, he composed and sang a song for the 2008 Beijing Olympics and later it was also released on the album “Far Away.”

In 2006, Chaw won Hong Kong TVB8’s Best Newcomer Singer award. His big break occurred with the release of his Mandarin cover of Karyn White’s 1988 song “Superwoman.” With this song, he won the Best Mandarin Male Singer award at the 19th Golden Melody Awards.

Chaw has also written chart-topping songs for S.H.E, Cyndi Wang and Aaron Kwok.

In recent years, Chaw was active in Chinese entertainment TV shows, such as “I Am a Singer 2” in 2014, “The Masked Singer” in 2015 and “Where Are We Going, Dad?” in 2014.
