ART’N DIOR exhibition staged in town
Shenzhen Daily 2021-10-08 17:31

ART’N DIOR, a retrospective display of some of the artistic creations made by artists as part of luxury brand Dior’s Lady Art project, is being staged at the Shenzhen Museum of Contemporary Art and Urban Planning, Futian District until Oct. 26.

With the Shenzhen exhibition, the French luxury house is shifting its focus to art that is rooted in the history of founder Christian Dior, who was a gallery owner before becoming a couturier.

The exhibition consists of five different sections, which all pay tribute to Dior’s abiding artistic passion for more than 70 years and expresses the artists’ high respect for freedom and ingenuity.

The show includes a section dedicated to the touring exhibition “Lady Dior As Seen By,” which features pieces by five Chinese artists Cai Yaling, Liang Manqi, Liu Yue, Wu Jian’an and Zhang Ding.

The roving exhibition, a showcase of artworks inspired by the iconic Lady Dior handbag, started its global journey in 2011 with stops at Beijing, Shanghai, Hong Kong, Taipei, Tokyo, Seoul, Sao Paulo, Milan and Berlin.

Meanwhile, the section “Dior Lady Art #1 to #5” retraces each edition of Lady Dior Art that features a series of limited edition works by a cohort of artists from around the world.

This year, the Lady Dior handbags designed by Chinese artists Li Songsong and Zhang Huan for the new edition of Dior Lady Art #6 also made their debut in the exhibition.
