Shenzhen will showcase its development highlights and achievements as well as high-end global medical device industrial clusters at the first BrightMD Fair China.

The global medical device fair will be held at the Shenzhen Convention and Exhibition Center in Futian District from June 8 to 10.

The exhibition area will cover 40,000 square meters as planned, and the organizing committee said it has contacted nearly 1,000 medical device enterprises for the event.

The fair will feature over 30 events, including a medical device procurement forum and a medical price reform summit. 

More than 10 Chinese academicians and experts, as well as leading enterprises, will gather at the event to share their insights on the medical equipment industry.

Several hospitals in Shenzhen will release their procurement needs. Moreover, a total of 16 Class-A tertiary comprehensive hospitals in the country will also sign cooperation agreements with the National Innovation Center for Advanced Medical Devices. 

A subvenue for the fair will be set up in Hong Kong, with nearly 100 high-end medical device enterprises at home and abroad expected to participate. 

The move aims to help domestic enterprises seek overseas opportunities and make full use of Hong Kong’s sci-tech resources.

The fair will be marked as a starting point as Shenzhen continues to build its high-end medical device innovation ecology, said an official from the Shenzhen Municipal Development and Reform Commission.

In 2022, the added value of Shenzhen's high-end medical device industry reached 33.2 billion yuan (US$4.8 billion), up 12.4% year on year. Currently, Shenzhen boasts some 1,800 medical device manufacturers, including 19 listed companies, according to official figures.
