DeepSeek-R1 model deployed in SZ government services
Shenzhen Daily 2025-02-18 10:31

Shenzhen officially launched application services powered by DeepSeek-R1 for all government agencies across the city Sunday, achieving an integrated empowerment upgrade for AI-based government applications using the domestically development AI model. Shenzhen is the first city in Guangdong Province to do so.

The integration of the DeepSeek-R1 model with the government cloud will significantly enhance services, such as providing 24/7 intelligent consulting for residents through the model’s natural language processing capabilities. It will also support data analysis and decision-making, efficiently handling large amounts of government data, among other improvements.

Released by Chinese AI company DeepSeek on Jan. 20, the DeepSeek-R1 model is a first-generation reasoning model developed through large-scale reinforcement learning. It is specifically designed to tackle complex reasoning tasks across various domains, including mathematics, coding, and language processing.

On Feb. 10, the Shenzhen Municipal Bureau of Government Services and Data Management completed the deployment of the full version of the DeepSeek R1 model on the government cloud.

The integration of the DeepSeek-R1 model into the government cloud has undergone rigorous testing, including functionality, security, and stress testing, along with simulations of extreme scenarios such as peak data processing. This ensures stability and reliability under high-load operating conditions.

The move is part of the city’s ongoing efforts to bolster the innovative development of the AI industry and increase usage of AI in society.

To date, Shenzhen has released some 50 AI application scenarios in the public sector. Among them, the Shenzhen Intermediate People's Court has created the country's first "Artificial Intelligence-Assisted Trial System" to address the prominent issue of high case volume relative to court personnel. This trailblazing system has significantly improved the efficiency and quality of judicial trials.
