Over 20 delegates from about 10 organizations and government departments in Dubai visited the Shenzhen Park of the Hetao Shenzhen-Hong Kong Science and Technology Innovation Cooperation Zone on Thursday, marking the end of their four-day trip to Shenzhen.

The delegation, organized by the Dubai Executive Office in collaboration with Dubai Chambers, began its tour of the park with a visit to an exhibition hall, where delegates learned about the park’s overall construction and planning.

HighTide Therapeutics, a biotechnology company, showcased its latest clinical and preclinical findings for HTD1801, the company’s lead candidate for targeting metabolic disorders. This presentation provided the Dubai delegation with insights into the potential of innovative drugs developed in China.

The delegates also visited the Grand Hall of Hetao, where they received an introduction to the business spaces Hetao offers for scientific research and how the zone attracts and integrates research resources.

“I think it’s a very ambitious project. It focuses on very clear areas in scientific research programs, such as quantum technology and biomedicine,” said Hadi Badri, CEO of the Dubai Economy and Tourism Department. He added that the most important takeaway from his visit was understanding how to create spaces for research and development.

Abdulla Belhoul, CEO of TECOM, a business group that has been developing business districts across Dubai since 1999, described Hetao’s model as the “future of the industry.” He highlighted how it combines research and mass production.

He shared that Dubai and Shenzhen share many similarities, including a forward-thinking attitude, a constant drive for a better future, and a strong embrace of innovation.

Badri believes that there will be significant opportunities for cooperation between Shenzhen and Dubai in business, investment, and technological innovation.
