Changcheng Community of Yuanling Subdistrict, Futian District, welcomed a new neighborhood play space on Feb. 3 with the official opening of the Rongrong Leyun Children’s Park. This is the first of four new children’s parks to be rolled out under Futian’s “Child Joy” initiative in the district.

Located on the public green at the intersection of Baihua 4 Road and Sungang Road West, Rongrong Leyun is at the heart of a school district surrounded by Shenzhen Experimental School and Baihua Primary School. Designed to meet the high-density family demand for “doorstep” play, the project makes use of roughly 200 square meters of limited space, preserving the site’s banyan grove while integrating play facilities — an approach that retains the natural texture of the site while delivering high-quality play experiences.
Design highlights include careful retention and integration of the existing banyan trees so that all play equipment — slides, climbing nets and aerial adventure passages — is arranged around the trees, creating what designers call a “wall-less nature classroom.” Two themed play towers inspired by popular sports (basketball and football) are linked by elevated adventure walkways and feature multifunctional elements such as slides, bridges and nets.
The park is programmed as a full-age, child-friendly ecosystem: a parent-child interaction zone for children aged 0-3 encourages caregiver companionship; a cognitive-interaction area for ages 3–6 stimulates logic and exploration; and a physical-development zone for children aged 6–12 supports fitness and adventurous play. A dedicated parent rest and care space offers a comfortable area for supervision and socializing.
Three additional children’s parks will open in Yuanling Subdistrict in the weeks around the Chinese New Year:
Xingtan Park: A 225-sqm immersive “space adventure camp” adjacent to Xufei Garden in Pengsheng Community, featuring interstellar-themed slides and custom climbing frames. It is expected to open in February.
Address: Green space beside Xufei Garden, Hongling Road North.
Metro: Line 9 to Yuanling Station, Exit A.
Bagua 1 Road Children’s Park: A minimalist, broadly accessible playground next to the Bagua 1 Road food street in Pengsheng Community, designed to serve families visiting the dining area. Expected to open in February.
Address: Green space beside Yihua Building.
Metro: Line 6 to Sports Center Station, Exit A1.
Yuedong Huoli Park: The largest of the four, transforming idle green space along the Shangbu Green Corridor into a comprehensive all-ages play facility. It is expected to open in March.
Metro: Line 6 to Bagualing Station, Exit E.
The new parks address residents’ needs for nearby, safe, and high-quality parent-child spaces and will fill gaps in local play resources.
