Huaqiang South in Futian District is riding a new wave of electronic recycling and reuse, emerging as one of China’s most dynamic hubs for used consumer electronics.

Covering just 600,000 square meters, Huaqiang South has become the country’s largest and most complete cluster for used consumer electronics, bringing together 35 specialized markets that accommodate more than 8,000 merchants and 20,000 industry workers. Its annual transaction volume has surpassed 20 billion yuan (US$2.91 billion), forming a full closed-loop ecosystem that spans collection, testing, repair, sales and after-sales services.

In November last year, the Huaqiang South Consumer Electronics Circular Economy Industrial Park was officially unveiled, marking a major step toward consolidating the area’s recycling-focused industrial chain. More recently, the park released its own exclusive brand logo, “Technology Circular · China Chip,” signaling a further upgrade in branding, standardization and industry identity.
Backed by China’s push for green consumption, circular economy development and trade-in programs, the neighborhood is accelerating its transformation. Tongtiandi has been selected as one of the country’s first pilot sites for used-goods circulation, while online platforms such as Caihuoxia, Tiantiansushou, and Wanji Guanjia have moved into the area, bringing digital tools to a traditionally offline business model.
Huaqiang South has grown from an area of scattered stalls into a global hub for electronics recycling and reuse, turning the secondhand digital device business into a rising industry.
Here, old devices are given new life through transparent testing, compliant traceability, direct access to quality products and more reliable consumer services.
For those curious about this fast-evolving market, a stroll through Huaqiang South offers a glimpse into how technology and sustainability are coming together in one of Shenzhen’s most distinctive commercial districts.
The next time you’re looking for a “new” device, Huaqiang South may be worth a visit, where circular consumption is becoming cooler, smarter and more affordable.
