The program, co-hosted by the Futian District Investment Promotion Bureau and Shenzhen Kerry Plaza, brought together government representatives, international sustainability organizations, university experts, and the first batch of highly internationalized corporate partners — dubbed “Green Partners” — to explore value co-creation and sustainable practices.

The “Community for Good” initiative is designed to convert long-termism and sustainability principles into practical, participatory, and deliverable daily actions. It aims to establish a community collaboration mechanism grounded in shared values.

Against the backdrop of more than 10 million residents across 78.66 square kilometers and an economy worth tens of billions of yuan, Futian aims to embed sustainability deeply into industrial development.

Futian is home to about 18,700 foreign-invested enterprises, including three Fortune 500 companies, which account for roughly one-third of the city’s total. The district also has 126 municipal-level headquarters enterprises, accounting for about one-third of the city’s total. In 2025, Futian saw the establishment of 2,865 new foreign-invested enterprises — the highest increase in Shenzhen.

ESG (environmental, social and governance) has become a mandatory foundation for long-term business survival, financing, and market access. It has also become a globally shared business language for aligning with the United Nations SDGs (Sustainable Development Goals), the EU’s CSRD (Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive), and standards such as the ISSB (International Sustainability Standards Board).

In recent years, Futian has addressed constraints on industrial space through innovative approaches such as “building industrial facilities upward.” Rather than relying only on vertical development to expand capacity, the district is also building a green office ecosystem aligned with international standards.

To date, Futian has accumulated more than 120 projects recognized with green building assessment labels, with green building floor area exceeding 10 million square meters. Landmark high-star green buildings, including Shenzhen Kerry Plaza, Ping An Finance Center, the Shenzhen Stock Exchange Operation Center, and DeepTech City, have formed a distinct and recognizable skyline for the district.

At the same time, the event also launched the “Sustainable Community · Green Partners Program.” Thirty-one corporate representatives from organizations including Emirates Airlines, Bose, HSBC Life (International) Company Limited Shenzhen Branch, South China Commercial Bank, China Resources Trust, Hang Seng Bank, NTT, Shanghai Trust, and Mizuho Sumitomo Bank (China) Ltd. Shenzhen Branch joined as the first Green Partners. They will help upgrade sustainability concepts into a long-term action mechanism.
