Futian District secured the top spot in Shenzhen for industrial growth in the first quarter of 2026 (Q1), with the total output value of industrial enterprises above the designated size increasing by 22.9%. At the heart of the industrial boom is the Meilin Subdistrict. Accounting for over half of Futian’s industrial output, Meilin reported a staggering 32.7% growth rate — nearly 3.67 times the city’s average.

Meilin’s high-tech stronghold is the result of the subdistrict’s deliberate shift from fragmented development to a highly integrated industrial ecosystem.

Meilin has cultivated a thriving innovation network in chip design and storage, and is now home to 25 key semiconductor firms, including half of Shenzhen’s storage chip companies. By focusing on the entire industry chain, spanning design and sensor development through module manufacturing and terminal application, the subdistrict has optimized five specialized incubators. Among them is the Angel Hub, a standard incubator certified by the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, which has nurtured 16 potential unicorn companies with valuations exceeding US$100 million.

Honor, a world-leading smart terminal manufacturer with over 250 million monthly active users, has anchored its operations in Meilin. As a chain leader, Honor is not only pivoting toward becoming a global AI ecosystem-oriented company but is also pulling upstream and downstream partners along its growth trajectory.

In the core chip sector, domestic giants Shenzhen Techwinsemi Technology Co. Ltd. and HosinGlobal have formed a powerful duo. Techwinsemi, the first A-share listed company in the domestic storage controller chip field, has mass-produced 10 types of chips used in automotive electronics and data centers. Meanwhile, HosinGlobal, a national-level "Little Giant" enterprise, has a workforce of which 70% consists of R&D personnel, and holds over 400 core intellectual property rights that support the local tech community.

The concept of "the supply chain is just an elevator ride away" has become Meilin’s unique competitive advantage. The National 5G Mid-to-High Frequency Device Innovation Center, which features a post-doctoral workstation and top-tier talent, provides the foundational R&D for upgrading the communcation capabilities of hardware products. This proximity is what attracted Newsonic Technologies, a specialist in acoustic filters. "We settled in Meilin in 2021 because the entire industry chain is packed into one park," said founder Zou Jie. In just four years, the company achieved complete domestic mass production of RF module chip filters, with cumulative shipments exceeding 2.5 billion units and a valuation surpassing 3 billion yuan.

Meilin’s success also signals a shift in investment promotion strategies, moving away from simple tax incentives toward an "ecosystem competition" model. Rather than casting a wide net, the government focuses on precision. When Honor became independent in 2021 and needed office space for thousands of employees within 40 days, the Futian District Government and Meilin Subdistrict Office formed a 24-hour task force, renovating 40,000 square meters of space in just 27 days.

Currently, Meilin manages a sophisticated "battle map" of its industrial landscape, including 82 AI hardware companies, four large-scale AI models, and dozens of application scenarios. This allows the government to identify exactly what a company lacks and who can fill that gap before a deal is even signed. The efficiency of this approach is evident in the local real estate market: the Sinlikon Intelligent Headquarters Building and Huaqiang Science and Innovation Plaza, which only began leasing in 2025, have already reached occupancy rates of 100% and over 90%, respectively.
