The city’s marriage registration offices will offer services Feb. 2 despite its being a Sunday in order to meet the demand of to-be-weds who think it is an auspicious date because 20200202 is symmetric in Arabic numerals.
In a notice, the Shenzhen Municipal Civil Affairs Bureau said many young people have left messages on its official WeChat account expressing their hopes of getting married on that date, which they think is rare because it occurs only once in a millennium.
Those who want to register on that date can make reservations in advance via the bureau’s WeChat account, “深圳民政,” the bureau said Monday.
In one day, the available reservations for the registry offices in Futian, Nanshan and Longgang districts were fully booked, and there are a limited number of slots left for the offices in other districts.
