HKMTR Shenzhen Co. Ltd., the operator of Metro Line 4, will start a test run of trains on the line’s northern extension from Sunday.
Under the test schedule, the present short circular route running between Hongshan Station, an interchange station with Line 6, and Futian Checkpoint Station during morning rush hours will be expanded to the circular route between Xikeng Station on the extension line and Futian Checkpoint Station. On the full circular route, the trains will run between Niuhu Station and Futian Checkpoint Station.
The operator reminds passengers that although the trains run tests on the whole line, including the existing Line 4 and extension, passengers will need to get off at Qinghu Station, now the terminus of Line 4.
The operator also optimized the earliest and latest trains departing Shenzhen North Station to meet the demand of passenger flows at Shenzhen North Railway Station, a transport hub that handles 100,000 passengers a day, or 20,000 passengers during the morning rush hours.
The earliest Metro train from Shenzhen North Station to Futian Checkpoint will be advanced to 6:17 a.m. and the last Metro train from Shenzhen North Station to Qinghu Station will be extended to 11:32 p.m.
Also starting from Friday, the operator will set different temperatures for different parts of the train and passengers can choose a cooler temperature between compartments 2-5 or moderate temperature compartments at both ends of a train.
Phase III of Line 4, or the northern extension, starts from Qinghu Station and runs about 10.98 kilometers to Niuhu Station, along Heping Road, Guanglan Boulevard and Golf Boulevard.
The whole line of Line 4 will be 31.3 kilometers once the northern extension is put into operation before the end of the year. The whole trip will take 51 minutes.
