On Oct. 15, the 2020 China Marine Economy Expo (CMEE) opened at the Shenzhen Convention and Exhibition Center in Futian District.

Among groups of visitors and exhibitors, a young woman holding a camera was easy to spot. Skillful and professional, she was filming what she saw at the expo. This is Caisa Quinn from Norway.

Caisa came to Shenzhen with her parents 12 years ago. She graduated from high school this year, but was kept from going back to Norway for college due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Making use of this delay, Caisa applied for an internship at the Shenzhen Daily.

With a keen interest in filmmaking, the 18-year-old woman is aware of what she can do with visual communication in the future.

While at school, Caisa had produced a few short videos that could be called professional and have proven her talent in script writing and film directing.

The young woman’s passion for filmmaking was inspired by one of her teachers at school, and has gained great support from her family.

Her mother, Carol Quinn, is a businesswoman with rich experience in marketing. She has confidence in Caisa’s future development.

However, Carol has greater expectations for her daughter.

At this year’s CMEE, Caisa volunteered with the Norwegian Business Association to make a documentary. She was responsible for pre-production, shooting, conducting interviews and post-production.

This was the first time for Caisa to produce a professional documentary. To accomplish the mission, she worked harder than ever before. After a few day’s busy work at the exhibition center, she finally collected enough footage for her documentary.

For Caisa, both opportunities and skills matter. Through the internship and her hard work, she gradually discovered the clues to producing a documentary.

For Caisa, these experiences are just the start of a greater adventure.
