Safer roads 1
Futian Government Online 2016-10-26 11:08
Stricter rules for safer roads Shenzhen traffic police ushered in a series of new rules in August to improve road safety, encourage environmentally friendly behavior and speed up traffic. All passengers are required to fasten their seat belts as well as the driver on every city road in Shenzhen, and those who drive alone will be fined if found using the HOV (high-occupancy vehicle) lanes. The police have deployed drones and motorcycle cops to patrol the roads and catch traffic violators, and high-resolution monitors are installed on all major roads. The traffic police have also encouraged drivers to use the Shenzhen Traffic Police WeChat public account to check and report traffic violations and complete license-related procedures. Some 1.76 million people have registered as “star drivers” with the traffic police as of Aug. 18. In the heat of August, Futian traffic police worked day and night to ensure the rules were abided by and traffic was smooth.
