Futian District inked a friendly exchange and cooperation memorandum with Iiyama in Japan’s Nagano prefecture on July 10, 2012. Through the agreement, the district is expected to expand its current education-related cooperation with the Japanese city to cover areas including economic development, trade, culture and arts, sports and tourism.

Futian District inked a friendly exchange and cooperation memorandum with Issy-Les-Moulineaux (Issy), a French city southwest of central Paris，on April 21, 2013. According to the memorandum, Shenzhen’s central district will exchange and cooperate with Issy in fields including economics, education, culture, science, technology and sports. Additionally, officials from the two locations will frequently visit each other to discuss issues of mutual concern.

Futian District signed a memorandum to establish a friendly exchange relationship with Togliatti, Samara, the sixth-largest city in Russia in April 22,  2016. The establishment of the relationship marks a new chapter between the two districts after Shenzhen and Samara establish a friendly exchange relationship in 2009.

Futian District signed a MOU with Gangnam District in Seoul, S. Korea on May 15, 2016. Through the MOU, the two sides agreed to strengthen cooperation in economy, culture, tourism, health, environment and other fields.

Futian District signed a memorandum to establish a friendly exchange relationship with Oakville, a suburban town in Ontario, Canada, on May 15, 2017. As two powerful engines for the development of their cities and provinces, Futian and Oakville share a lot of mutually beneficial features, so the potential for their cooperation is huge and meaningful.

Futian District and Apulia Region in Italy inked a memorandum to establish a friendly exchange relationship July 19, 2018. As the sixth friendship district of Futian, Apulia will strengthen its exchange and cooperation with the district in the future.
