■ Shenzhen begins microchipping all dogs

Shenzhen has begun implanting free microchips in all dogs that have been registered in the city, announced by the urban management authority at this year’s “love your pet dog day” ceremony held Friday in Shenzhen Central Park, Futian District.

■ Libraries, museums in Futian CBD reopen

Municipal public facilities in Futian CBD, including the Shenzhen Library, Shenzhen Museum of Contemporary Art and Urban Planning, Shenzhen Museum, and Guan Shanyue Art Museum, reopened to the public yesterday after being forced to close for months due to the COVID-19 outbreak.

■ Light show pays tribute to female medics

The portrait of a medical worker lights up the side of a skyscraper in Futian CBD on Saturday. A light show featuring the portraits of 15 front-line female medics had been playing at the section of Shennan Boulevard from Shanghai Hotel to Shenzhen Theater and near Civic Center since Saturday, paying tribute to the female medical personnel who were dispatched to Hubei Province, the epicenter of the COVID-19 outbreak, as well as those working at the Shenzhen No. 3 People’s Hospital, the city’s designated hospital for treating COVID-19 patients. The International Women’s Day special-edition light show ended last night.

The shopping malls and business streets in Futian District are still quiet, though some shops of business areas in the district have opened their doors. They also do their best to prevent the new coronavirus from spreading.

A myriad of residents and visitors in Shenzhen packed the pedestrian street outside One Palace, a large-scale commercial facility in Futian District, on Saturday for the 2020 Shenzhen Spring Festival Flower Fair.

■ UABB exhibits in town

The eighth Bi-City Biennale of UrbanismArchitecture (Shenzhen) (UABB) opened Dec. 21 at Futian Railway Station — one of the two main venues for this year’s UABB — kicking off the more than two-month-long event that features exhibitions and talks being held at the two main venues and nine subvenues across the city.
